My work is made with traditional materials including paper, canvas, pencil, gouache, oil paint, enamel, acrylic, etc. I select whatever media is necessary to insure the most beautiful and permanent effect for each piece. I enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to create art in non-traditional projects as well, such as the Overalls All Over Project. In addition I get great satisfaction from working with other members of the community to create something new and unique for everyone to enjoy. |

| Most of my art is small, intimate
work on paper or canvas. I am fascinated with the changing roles that women
play throughout their lifetimes. I examine how women constantly define and
redefine themselves using symbols of these roles in Chinese and Western
language characters, stencils and written materials combined with images
of everyday objects women have traditionally used in the home. These themes
are depicted by combining the creative and innovative use of materials,
strong design elements and rich color. By exploring these ideas I hope to
discover something about my own life as an American woman and perhaps gain
some insight into to what that means and how it influences me, my art and
my hopes and dreams. October 2003 |
